Bill Gates uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which he takes the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge.” Gates – who nominated Elon Musk, Ryan Seacrest, and Chris Anderson (curator of TED Talks) – was nominated by Mark Zuckerberg.
ALS – or Lou Gehrig’s Disease – is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that makes sufferers lose muscle control. Life expectancy for those with it is between two and five years, and the only effective drug available extends that by just a few months.
Between July 29th and August 12th, over $4 million has been donated to the ALS Association — more than three and a half times as much as the charity received during the same time period last year.
