NASA’s Titan Submarine

This submarine might one day navigate the depths of alien planets.

NASA’s Glenn Research Center created this visualization of the Titan Submarine concept that could be used to explore both the shoreline and “oceans” of other planets. For example, Saturn’s Moon Titan, which has methane rain, rivers, and seas, including the Kraken Mare – the largest body of water on Titan – measuring 154,440 square miles.

This is a segment of a colorized mosaic from NASA's Cassini mission that shows the most complete view yet of Titan's northern land of lakes and seas. Saturn's moon Titan is the only world in our solar system other than Earth that has stable liquid on its surface.
