Professor Solves 78,269 x 78,269 In His Head Onstage

It only takes a minute-and-a-half for mathemagician Arthur Benjamin to crunch 78,269 squared in his head. What makes the feat even more impressive is that he solves the problem onstage in front of hundreds of people, and explains it as he goes.

Benjamin has been a professor of mathematics at Harvey Mudd College since 1989, and specializes in combinatorics – the study of finite or countable discrete structures. In 2012, The Princeton Review chose Benjamin as one of the The Best 300 Professors.
